A big job, broken into practical steps

You don’t have to solve the whole house at once.

The hard part can be knowing where to begin. What stays? What sells? How much do you ask? And how do you get people through the door?

“Where do I start?”

Work backward from your sale date. Sort room by room, protect the things you’re keeping and decide where you need help.

“What should I charge?”

Use color-coded prices for everyday items, individual tags for higher-value pieces and a plan for bundles and markdowns.

“How do I find buyers?”

Prepare photos and a listing, promote the sale locally, and make the home easy to browse when buyers arrive.

What you receive

A guide for the whole sale,
from first sort to final clear-out.

Sell It All is a downloadable PDF by Sam Correll & Spencer Claiborne. Follow it in order as you prepare, then return to the relevant section when you’re pricing, promoting or running your sale.

It combines practical instructions with the choices we made in our own home. You can adapt the approach to your belongings, your timeline and your local market.

  1. Plan the date, budget and teamChoose a workable timeline, divide up the jobs and prepare the supplies you’ll need.
  2. Sort without losing sight of what mattersSeparate keep, sell and discard items. Give family a chance to claim sentimental pieces before the sale.
  3. Price and prepare the houseUse pricing dots, research higher-value items, group similar pieces and plan the flow through your home.
  4. Promote the salePhotograph the items buyers will want to see and use local listings, community channels and signage.
  5. Get ready and run sale dayPrepare payments and change, assign helpers, handle negotiations and use discounts as the sale progresses.
  6. Deal with what’s leftChoose what to list separately, donate or clear away, then compare sale proceeds with your expenses.

The sale that started this guide

We had a home full of memories.
And a move to make.

In 2024, we decided to leave the U.S. for Albania. That meant sorting through the belongings in our Kansas City home and deciding what could come with us.

We organized and ran the household sale ourselves. The weekend brought in $10,839.43 across 183 transactions. The guide shares the preparation, pricing, marketing and sale-day choices behind that result.

This is our own result, before sale expenses and payment-processing fees. Your proceeds will depend on what you sell, local demand, pricing and preparation.

Who it’s for

Ready to sell a houseful of belongings?

  • You’re downsizing, moving or helping a household prepare for a new chapter.
  • You want to run the sale yourself and can set aside time to prepare.
  • You’d like a clear sequence for sorting, pricing, advertising and sale day.
  • You want to handle sentimental belongings thoughtfully.

Choose what fits your situation

You’ll still do the work.
The guide helps you organize it.

This is a self-guided household sale resource. If you have limited time, cannot manage the physical work or need specialist valuations, professional help may be the better choice.

Our sale took place in the U.S. General planning and pricing ideas can be adapted elsewhere; the advertising examples include U.S. platforms and local channels.

Before you buy

A few useful answers.

What exactly do I receive?

A downloadable PDF guide covering planning, sorting, preparation, promotion, sale day and what to do afterward. It includes our pricing approach, original sale listing and real sale examples. You can follow it at your own pace.

How do I access the guide?

Purchase through our secure Kajabi checkout. The guide is in the Downloads area of your product library, where you can download the PDF. Keep the file on your computer or tablet so it’s easy to refer to as you work.

Do I have to be moving abroad?

No. The sale was part of our move abroad, but the guide is also useful for downsizing, moving locally or clearing a household of belongings.

Can I use it outside the U.S.?

The sale and advertising examples are from the U.S. The approach to sorting, staging, pricing and sale-day planning can be adapted, but you’ll need to choose suitable local advertising channels and check requirements where you live.

Does the guide cover selling my house or car?

The focus is selling household belongings through a DIY estate or moving sale. It does not provide a complete process for selling real estate or vehicles.

Will my sale bring in $10,000 too?

Our $10,839.43 is a record of our own sale, before expenses and payment-processing fees. Your result will depend on the belongings you have, their condition and value, local demand, preparation and pricing. The guide shares our approach so you can make informed decisions for your own sale.

Is personal consulting included?

This €20 offer is the digital guide to use yourself. Personal sale planning or consulting is not included.
